Tour itinerary

Tatev Monastery

01

Tatev Monastery

Tatev was an important monastic and medieval educational centre in Syunik. Its walled grounds reveal church architecture, stone courtyards and a dramatic position above the gorge. Visiting the monastery and riding the cable car are separate experiences; the latter is confirmed separately. Explore Tatev Monastery near Vorotan Gorge. A ride on the Wings of Tatev cable car is an optional paid activity, subject to its operating schedule.

Tatev was an important medieval centre of learning and religious life. Its churches, defensive walls and views into the Vorotan Gorge reveal different aspects of that role. A cable-car journey is a separate service from visiting the monastery itself.

Vorotan Gorge

02

Vorotan Gorge

Vorotan Gorge is a striking Syunik landscape of deep valleys, cliffs and winding roads. A viewpoint stop on the way to Tatev offers a broad panorama. It does not include descending into the gorge, swimming or a separate adventure excursion. Travel towards Vorotan Gorge and stop at an agreed viewpoint. This is a photo stop to enjoy the scenery of southern Armenia.

A viewpoint reveals the changes in height between the slopes, river valley and roads. This helps explain the mountainous character of the route to Tatev. The precise photo stop is selected according to access and road conditions.

Shaki Waterfall

03

Shaki Waterfall

Shaki Waterfall lies near Sisian in a rocky landscape. A broad stream drops over a stone ledge into the pool below. Water flow and access may vary, and comfortable footwear suits the approach path. Visit Shaki Waterfall via a walking approach. Access is confirmed according to road conditions and availability on the day.

The visit includes the approach path and time to view the falling water, rather than simply a photograph from the vehicle. Enjoy the scene while keeping a comfortable distance from the water and rocky edges. The stop is adapted to the group’s walking pace.

Areni Wine Region

04

Areni Wine Region

Areni is a wine-growing village in Vayots Dzor with vineyards and local winemaking traditions. An Armenian grape variety also bears its name. The Khor Virap–Birds’ Cave–Areni–Noravank package includes a wine tasting for adult participants. Its venue and format are confirmed when booking. In other tours, tastings and winery visits are arranged separately.

Areni connects wine with the landscape in which its grapes are grown. During a tasting, compare the colours, aromas and flavours of different wines. Momik is a separate choice and does not replace a package’s confirmed tasting without agreement.
